Employee Resource Groups: Employee resource groups (ERGs) are groups of employees who come together based on a shared identity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. ERGs can help promote inclusion by providing a safe and supportive space for employees from underrepresented communities.
Accessibility: Organizations can exclude certain communities if their facilities, websites, or services are not accessible to people with disabilities. Organizations can promote inclusion by ensuring their facilities are accessible, their websites are designed with accessibility in mind, and their services are inclusive of people with disabilities.
Community Outreach: Organizations can exclude certain communities if they do not engage with them or if they do not understand their needs. To promote inclusion, organizations can engage with communities through outreach efforts, such as volunteering, community events, and partnerships with local organizations.
Overall, inclusion and exclusion are often the result of a combination of factors. Organizations that are intentional about promoting inclusion and identifying and addressing any biases or barriers can create a more diverse and inclusive workplace culture that benefits all employees.
